According to the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Killer is Dead will be the next game from the mind of auteur game dev: Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51).
Killer is Dead will be an original game, not a sequel to Killer 7. It will, however, be an “assassin” game, which was the narrative featured in Killer 7.
The main character’s job is being called “Executioner.” He goes around the world killing high level criminals.
This sounds somewhat similar to the plot line of Dexter. Expect Suda’s take to feature his own auteuristic flair.
The gameplay details are somewhat vague. There will be sword action similar to Suda’s earlier game: No More Heroes, but no other details have really been divulged.
The game is still in early development, but Suda does mention that love will be a heavily explored subject.
“Love is an important theme for the game, because the main character has someone he wants to protect, and he’s fighting for this. The idea of ‘How far can you protect someone’ is central to the story.”
The titles is slated for a 2013 release for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
