PAX East just ended and Gearbox was there promoting Borderlands 2 like crazy. At a panel they revealed some more details about the upcoming game:
- New skin system – defeating enemies unlocks new skins for your characters
- Customizable heads – pretty self-explanatory; customize your character’s head
- Welcome back – players who’ve played Borderlands will get a unique skin and head
But the biggest news of this panel was the announcement of a new character, the “Mechromancer.” Her abilities aren’t entirely firmed up yet, but concept art of something called “Deathtrap” was shown. This character won’t be launched with the game however: it’s DLC scheduled to be launched within 60-90 days of the game’s release.
If you join the Borderlands 2 “Premiere Club” (by pre-ordering the game from GameStop or Amazon.com), you’ll get the new character at no extra charge. Furthermore, Gearbox announced that there will be a variety of special editions of the game, including one priced at $99 and another for $149 that has merchandise.
Borderlands 2 will be available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC September 18th, 2012 (North America) and September 21st (International).
