“We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots.”
The Metal Gear creative kingpin told French magazine IG a few key details involving the next Metal Gear Solid project, including the note that the game will be developed with the new FOX Engine. This tidbit of information can be extrapolated to mean that the game will likely not make an appearance in this generation of consoles.
“About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you ‘a favour’ like in the last Metal Gear Solid.
I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see. And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into pieces. So it’s better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5.”
It’s been previously reported that Kojima planned to have his juniors handle Metal Gear Solid 5 but there was friction to a new franchise title without Kojima’s hand on the wheel.
I find it funny that Kojima’s premier character just won’t die, regardless of Kojima’s feelings on the matter. I get him killed plenty when playing Metal Gear Solid 2 on my Vita, much to Otacon’s chagrin.
