In a recent interview with Gaming Examiner, the creative director behind The Last of Us, Bruce Straley, had this to say concerning multiplayer and co-op in the game:
“We are supporting multiplayer with The Last of Us. We’re not ready to talk about the details of how multiplayer will be implemented, however we can say that it is not co-op within the main campaign.”
Those of us who were excited about The Last of Us after E3 probably just had our hearts sink a little bit. Many people were likely thinking or saying, “Oh man the co-op on this will be amazing and really fun!” Unfortunately, it seems like that experience will not be in the game.
If you pay attention closely to what Straley said, he said that the multiplayer they have planned would not be the co-op within the game, but something else. So maybe there is hope for some kind of co-op side mission additions.
