First Image of Metal Gear Solid 5 Surfaces

Metal Gear Solid 5One image shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con may have revealed the next Metal Gear Solid to gamers, which has now been dubbed Project Ogre.

The image was first shown on Reddit and even though it’s only a title logo, it has revealed that OGRE is an acronym for “Open Ground Reconnaissance Endeavors.” To what can only be considered more information on MGS 5, a couple more screenshots were revealed on the GameTrailers forums, which reveal a little more game dialogue.

While these all may seem to be legitimate reasons for anticipating a new Metal Gear Solid, Joystiq has been told by Konami that the rumours are all fake. That doesn’t explain though why Metal Gear Solid developer Hideo Kojima was at Comic-Con himself and was reportedly showing something secret behind the scenes.

Whatever it is, let’s hope that the new Metal Gear Solid that comes out is going to be as awesome as the last few. It would be great to see the series revisit its roots by going back to the tactical espionage of the first game that many gamers have known and loved in the past.

You can check out the screenshots below and decide their legitimacy for yourself.
