Final Fantasy XIV has been undergoing extreme renovations for some time now, including the implementation of several programs intended to draw old players back and reward the loyal people still playing. Now, everything is drawing to a close.
The new title for the game as well as the new logo (visible at left) have been unveiled. A teaser site has gone up and a new trailer has been released. In the latest letter from the producer, Final Fantasy XIV Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida has decided to explain some things about the trailer.
The trailer, titled “A Realm Reborn,” was intended to look like “a hit Hollywood blockbuster trailer” in order to appeal to as many people as possible. Yoshida wants people of all generations and nationalities to enjoy the game. There’s also a mix of old and new Final Fantasy features along with the themes of destruction and rebirth.
The opening music tugs hard on the nostalgia factor for those who played FF XI. This is followed by a Galadriel-esque voice over accompanied by the Light of Eärendil — I mean, a crystal. Then there is an action-packed montage filled with shots of battle and destruction. Seriously, blink once and you’ll miss half of it. You can check the trailer out yourself below:
