We have been getting little bits of information for the past year or so about the possibility of a new Neo Geo Handheld system, and a new press release gives us a lot of information about it. The handheld itself will be called the “NeoGeo X Handheld” and will be bundled in a package called “NeoGeo X Gold.” which will be released December 6, 2012. Remember that ridiculous $500 price tag? Well don’t worry the price is likely going to be $199.99, but even that isn’t set in stone and it may change from now until December.
The NeoGeo X will have a 4.3″ LCD display, roughly .8″ larger than the top screen for a Nintendo 3DS. It will also come with an expandable game card slot, internal speakers, and a headphone port. Included in the NeoGeo X Gold package, along with the handheld, is also the NeoGeo X joystick, NeoGeo X Station, and 20 pre-loaded Neo Geo classics. You can use the station to hook up your handheld to a TV through an HDMI or A/V output.
The 20 pre-loaded games are:
- 3 Count Bout
- Art of Fighting II
- Alpha Mission II
- Baseball Stars II
- Cyber Lip
- Fatal Fury
- Fatal Fury Special
- The King of Fighters ’95
- King of the Monsters
- Last Resort
- League Bowling
- Magician Lord
- Metal Slug
- Mutation Nation
- Nam 1975
- Puzzled
- Real Bout – Fatal Fury Special
- Samurai Showdown II
- Super Sidekicks
- Wold Heroes Perfect
