Ubisoft has released yet another trailer for Assassin’s Creed III, this time hyping the AnvilNext engine used to model the environment and the AI. The trailer demonstrates the various qualities of the engine, displaying scenes of battles, combat, wildlife, and scenery.
While there have been several placeholders in between Assassin’s Creed II and III, it seems this new engine will allow a huge boost in gameplay quality. As can be seen in the video trailer below, AnvilNext seemingly allows realistic and flowing landscapes with very life-like wildlife. EA also boasts that the AI has been programmed to reach a level of interaction unseen as of yet in an Assassin’s Creed game. Moreover, the protagonist and player-character Connor contains over 1000 animation sequences alone, meaning the player experience should be greatly enhanced over that of Altair and Ezio.
Interestingly, there is also a heavy focus on the historical accuracy of the game, as has been stated by Creative Director Alex Hutchinson, whose comments can be found here.
