After the huge success that was Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Asylum before that, writer Paul Dini has been getting a lot of questions about his future involvement in Batman games.
To clear things up, Paul Dini wrote in his LiveJournal that he was out of the running for the next Batman game and Warner Interactive told him that it would be a good idea to look for other opportunities instead.
“When I later read their subsequent announcements about the Harley Quinn’s Revenge game expansion and the rumored Arkham prequel/JLA game, I figured they had filled their writer needs. I had long before taken WI’s advice and booked my schedule with a number of other projects, leaving me unavailable to take on anything new until 2013.”
Paul goes on to write about how great the experience was working with the people of Rocksteady and Warner on the last two Batman games. If Paul’s name doesn’t quite ring a bell, just know that he also wrote for Batman: The Animated series (the much-loved big chin cartoon).
According to Wikipedia, Paul Dini will be serving as a writer and producer for Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., both of which are cartoons.
Speaking as one of the game’s biggest admirer’s, I say that Paul Dini’s hand in it will be sorely missed.
