Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (the PC port of Dark Souls) released today, and already there’s a mod to fix resolution issues caused by the fixed rendering resolution. If you’ve been having trouble with the resolution of the game, read below to find the mod that will fix it.
NeoGAF user Durante apparently prepared a mod ahead of time to deal with resolution issues. Thus, with a few tweaks and after testing it some, he has released the mod for public consumption. There are some before and after shots on the thread and Durante stresses that he has no way of knowing if the mod will work the entire game or what new issues it may cause, but it has worked on his PC so far.
Since his initial post, versions 0.2 and 0.3 have also been released (and added to the initial post), fixing text issues and other things that arose from the mod. So what exactly is the mod?
“It’s an interception d3d9.dll that you place in the same folder as the game executable. It intercepts the game’s calls to the DirectX 9 API and changes them as necessary to enable a higher internal rendering resolution.”
