The third entry into the Dragon Age series, Dragon Age III: Inquisition has been announced by developer Bioware.
This latest title will be built around a new RPG engine that is built around DICE’s Frosbite 2 engine. On the subject of the announcement, Aaryn Flynn, Bioware Edmonton and Montreal’s general manager stated the following:
“The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now. We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral. At the same time, we know we need new technology to truly make this vision become fully realized. And we’ve been working with DICE to make Frostbite 2 the foundation for the engine that is going to power Dragon Age 3″.

I love the series and will be following this one closely.
I am actually pretty excited for this. Dragon Age II got a lot more flack than it deserves, but don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a great game by any means. People just made it out as if it was one of the worst games in awhile. I guess when you compared it to DAO, it was, because DAO was insanely good and a breath of fresh air.
I am optimistic for Dragon Age III as some actual time has passed since Dragon Age II. II came out a little over a year after DAO, way too quickly to put in a reasonable amount of effort. Now it has been almost as much time as it took for Dragon Age II to release and we are just getting the tiniest bit of information on it.
It’s a relief to know we won’t see this for probably a year, or a little more.
