Capcom made an official announcement today stating that downloadable content for Resident Evil 6 will become available post-launch, and will include three brand new multiplayer modes.
Due to Capcom’s agreement with Microsoft, the DLC will become available to Xbox 360 first, leaving PS3 owners in a jealous rage (grr!). All of the multiplayer modes will be available for up to six players to take part in, and will take their map environments from the Mercenaries section.
The game modes on offer sound really fun! First up we have Survivor’s Mode, which of course involves relentless waves of enemies and a struggle to stay alive for as long as possible. However, there’s a twist: if you are killed, you respawn as an enemy, and are able to attack your fellow human characters. You must kill two humans in order to return to your normal state and progress farther in the game session.
The next is called Predator Mode. This pits one player as the Ustanak, “the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign,” and this player’s challenge is to kill all the human players. Naturally, the opposing team must destroy the Ustanak, or at least survive until the timer runs out.
Finally, we have Siege Mode. One team will be given an NPC to protect throughout the session, and the opposing team’s goal is to kill that NPC. If the NPC is still alive at the end of the game, then the human team wins.
Excited yet? Resident Evil 6 is set to hit the shelves on October 2, 2012 and while Capcom haven’t given away too many details about when this DLC will become available, I’m sure it won’t be too long after its release.
