Survarium is Set in a Not-Too-Distant Apocalypse

Survarium, the game being developed by Vostok Games (a studio formed by some of the developers of the now-defunct S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2), will be set in an apocalyptic context. Given the post-nuclear disaster setting of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, an apocalyptic setting for Survarium isn’t too much of a surprise. However, Survarium is about disaster on a global scale.

Set in the year 2026, the world of Survarium has undergone a series of crises: overpopulation, economic calamities, and so on. But the worst crises are the ecological ones. A chain of ecological disasters has led to a wild overgrowth of plant life.  The Forest (as it’s termed) has begun to take over cities.

Naturally, humans try to fix the problem, only to make it worse. A man-made virus is released, which stops the plants in their tracks. This is good… until a strange pollen begins making people’s bodies rot in a day. Within a year, 90% of the human population is wiped out. Which brings us to…

“2026. Cities are destroyed and being captured by the forest. Handfuls of survivors try seeking out safe areas. We are one of them. There are no more countries or borders. Anarchy rules the world. Now everyone is out for themselves.”
