This year’s Tokyo Game Show in Japan has seen the highest number of attendees, beating the previous record set by last year’s show by almost 1,500.
Tokyo Game Show is one of the greatest Gaming Expos of the year, and showcases much of Japanese developers’ upcoming titles. This year, the Tokyo Game Show proved to be even more popular, hitting an impressive 223,753 visitors between September 20th and September 23rd. The attendance is broken down below into the corresponding dates:
- Thursday, 20th of September: 27,391
- Friday, 21st of September: 24,504
- Saturday, 22nd of September: 94,989
- Sunday, 23rd of September: 76,869
What do you think this says about the gaming industry in Japan? With Sony not doing too well in general over there, what projects do you think encouraged the highest number of visitors? Let us know in the comments!

Very interesting numbers. I wonder what percentage consisted of foreigners vs. Japanese citizens. It’s a shame that GAMElitist staff couldn’t be a part of that 223,753. Perhaps next year.
Here’s hoping!
