Borderlands 2 DLC: Mechromancer and Captain Scarlett’s Pirate Booty

Yesterday saw the early release of the Mechromancer DLC character for Borderlands 2; for those who had pre-ordered the game with premier club content, the new character was surely one of the major selling points. However if, like me, you missed out on the pre-order bonuses, then never fear because you can now pick them all up for $9.99 (£7.99).

Gaige the Mechromancer utilises her pet robot Death Trap to wreak havoc on the battlefield, and, from what Gearbox have said (to some controversy previously), her skill trees represent levels of difficulty. Best Friends Forever is designed to allow players unfamiliar to FPS games to still be effective, whereas Ordered Chaos is designed to allow experienced players to be extremely potent. You can check out the skill trees on the Borderlands 2 website here.

Also included in the DLC (although probably not as an intended feature) are some little hints to the first of the content DLC packs that will be covered in the Season Pass. Captain Scarlet and Her Pirate’s Booty introduces a new area called Oasis that was previously hinted at in the source files for the PC version. The information uncovered can be found here on the Gearbox forums but it includes:

  • New heads for each class
  • A new rarity level for gear
  • New raid bosses

We can expect more information when Gearbox formally announces the DLC pack, which will hopefully be soon.
