Just this past Monday, we reported that some modders had found some DLC on the disc of Resident Evil 6 and unlocked it to show the world what was inside. Given Capcom’s history with on-disc DLC, this got many people on the internet up in a tizzy. In response, Capcom announced yesterday that the first batch of DLC for Resident Evil 6 (some of the content that is already on the disc) will be free. The company then clarified that paid DLC is not on the disc.
The free DLC is coming in the form of an update, and includes the new difficulty, No Hope. The update/free DLC also unlocks Ada’s campaign for players to play from the start, and with a buddy co-op style if so desired.
Capcom’s official clarification statement is below:
“Now, the clarification: some data of this update is on the disc, but said data is incomplete and requires the actual download to access. But again, free. Mercenaries costumes are residentevil.net unlocks. Simply register for the site and start earning RE points for those goodies.”
Again, paid DLC is NOT on the disc. Makes sense to me. What do you think?

I wonder if the DLC was supposed to be paid before people discovered it…
What about the people who don’t have strong enough internet access or don’t have internet access at all?
