Mists of Pandaria Brings WoW Subscriptions Back to Over 10 Million

Mists of Pandaria, the recently released expansion for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft MMO, has increased the number of subscriptions back up to over 10 million.

Back in August, it was revealed that the number of active subscriptions to the MMO behemoth World of Warcraft had fallen to the 9.1 million mark. However, since the launch of the fourth expansion pack entitled Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard has revealed that 2.7 million copies of the game were sold in the first week alone. Importantly, this figure does not even account for numbers sold in China as the Chinese release was a little later than for other countries.

On the subject of the increased volume of subscriptions, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime had this to say:

“It’s been gratifying to see the results of all of the work we put into this expansion and to hear all of the positive feedback from players so far.”
