John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, officially announced the release date of PlanetSide 2 at the annual SOE Live fan event last night. But, not wanting to leave fans out who couldn’t see the event, Smedley also tweeted the release date while onstage:
“Planetside 2 will launch on November 20, 2012“
Along with this announcement, Smedley also answered a couple of questions about the game’s launch. The first confirmed that the Chinese launch date for PlanetSide 2 will NOT be November 20. It is unknown when Chinese fans can expect to get their hands on the game. Another twitter user asked, “Will Australian servers be launched at the same time?” Smedley replied, “yes. Just one server.”
PlanetSide 2 has been in closed beta since August, and I’m sure fans have been anxious for a release date. Smedley has also remarked that the release date will give the development team enough time to give the game a good polish and fix some important bugs before release.
